Sattu – the natural protein source of rural India is rich in not only proteins but many other minerals as well. It is beneficial for all age group from kid to old aged.
Apart from providing the body with energy, sattu is unique because of its preparation process i.e. first it is dried and then roasted which keeps the nutritional values in place, and it can also be stored for longer period of time.
It's high on insoluble fiber, which makes it good for the intestines, and is low on glycemic index which makes it safe and beneficial for diabetics. It also has good proportions of iron, manganese, and magnesium, and is low on sodium too.
This salty drink of sattu is really tantalizing and soothing in summers.
- 1 cup- chana sattu
- 10- mint leaves
- 3 tsp lemon juice
- 1 green chilli
- ¾ tsp -roasted cumin
- ¾ tsp black salt
- Plain salt as per taste
Time – 10 minutes

- Take mint leaves and wash them thoroughly. Keep 2 -3 leaves aside and finely chop the rest of mint leaves and also green chilli along with it. Amount of chilli can vary as per the taste.
- Now on the other side first dissolve sattu in cold water and stir until the lumps are dissolved completely. Then add more water.
- Also, add black salt, plain salt, green chili, mint leaves, lemon juice and roasted cumin powder. Salty sattu drink is ready.
Pour the namkeen sattu drink in a glass and garnish with whole mint leaves. To serve it more chilled, place finely crushed 3 to 4 ice cubes into it. This drink prevents us from the scorching heat of summers.
