Causes

Ayurvedic Treatment

  • Amlapitta- where amla means sour and pitta means heat, is known as hyperacidity in Ayurveda. The aggravated pitta causes the improper digestion of food and produces the ama (toxins) in the body.
  • Cleaning the toxins from the body and pacifying the aggravated Pitta dosha is the main Ayurvedic treatment for hyperacidity.
  • The common herbs used to alleviate hyperacidity are Amalaki   (Emblica officinalis or Phyllanthus emblica) , Fennel Seeds (Foeniculum vulgare), Ginger (Zingiber officinale), Cumin Seeds (Cuminum cyminum), etc.

 

Diet and Lifestyle

  • Curd, processed, sour, salty and fermented foods should be strictly avoided.
  • Tea, coffee, alcohol and carbonated drinks to be avoided.
  • Avoid using onions, tomatoes, ginger, vinegar, rich gravies, and garlic in food.
  • Perform yoga and pranayam such as Bhujangasana, Bhastrika, Shitali, Shitkari, and Vajrasana.
