Causes

  • As per Ayurveda,  Pitta dosha gets aggravated due to the excessive intake of fried, spicy, salty, fermented, and sour food.
  • This Pitta then gets collected in the scalp that leads to the falling and graying of hair.
  • Anger, stress and excessive alcohol consumption also intensify Pitta and then leads to hair fall.

Symptoms

  • Excessive hair loss
  • Graying of hair at an early age

Ayurvedic Treatment

  • In Ayurveda, hair loss is known as Khalitya. According to Ayurveda hair is a byproduct of bone formation. So the tissue responsible for building the bone is also responsible for the hair growth.
  • The balance of mind-body constitution and body type is related to hair loss. Aggressive Pitta leads to the hair fall. Excess Pitta in the sebaceous gland, folliculitis, or the root of the hair is the main reason.
  • Ayurvedic treatment involves the use of herbs, oil massages, diet, aromatherapy, meditation, yoga, and breathing.
  • Common herbs used to prevent hair loss and premature graying are  Aloe Vera, Indian Gooseberry, Neem, Bhringraj, Jatamansi.

Diet and Lifestyle

  • Avoid spicy, oily, fried and heavy food along with tea and coffee.
  • Instead of using chemical products on hair using herbal oils and shampoos.
  • Avoid junk food, alcohol, carbonated drinks, refined food and refined sugar.
  • Increase the consumption of green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, and juice prepared from lettuce, capsicum, carrot, and alfalfa.
